SHIMANO Introduces New 2.2mm Thick Rotors Built for Modern MTB

Increased control, improved heat management and added durability for aggressive riding.

SHIMANO raises the bar on braking performance with the introduction of its new 2.2mm thick disc brake rotors, engineered to deliver greater control and increased durability for the demands of downhill, freeride, and long-travel enduro and e-MTB.

On steep descents, blown-out corners, and through technical rock gardens, braking isn’t just about slowing down, it’s about staying in control. SHIMANO’s latest rotor design is built to give riders the confidence to push deeper into lines and brake later when it matters most.
Rooted in Shimano’s gravity-driven heritage, the new 6-Bolt DISC BRAKE ROTOR 2.2MM THICKNESS (RT-CL6B750) and CENTER LOCK DISC BRAKE ROTOR 2.2MM THICKNESS (RT-CL750) stand confidently on their own as a premium braking upgrade. Available in both 200mm and 220mm sizes, the updated design increases rotor thickness from 1.75mm to 2.2mm, providing a noticeable boost in performance and reliability.

More than Just Thickness
The move to a thicker rotor isn’t just about added material, it’s about delivering consistent braking when it counts. The increased 2.2mm profile with new vent hole construction that results in increased control, helping maintain predictable modulation while reducing hand fatigue.
