In winter I’m back home in Namibia, soaking up the rays on home roads. In the UK I live and train to the south of Manchester, with a choice between climbing the peaks or rolling/flat terrain.

Favourite race of all time:
Desert Dash, Namibia. 340km Mountain bike race, through the desert to the coast. It’s so out of the ordinary and pushes the mind and body to new do things previously thought impossible.
Favourite place to ride:
Ticino, Switzerland. The Italian region of Switzerland with it’s lakes, mountains and valleys is absolutely spectacular. I was fortunate enough to live there for four years so also feel very much at home there.
Favourite place on Earth if different to above:
Stellenbosch, South Africa. Idyllic university town in the South African wine lands. More good memories!
How you got into this sport: I’ve always enjoyed doing something odd and different and as no one in rural Namibia cycles as a sport that was a good place to start! I got into triathlon even though there was no swimming pool in town and from there discovered my passion for the bike.

What motivates you:
My love for the sport and knowing that even though I have not reached the heights that I have set out for myself just yet, there are a lot of young people back home who look up to me.
