Park Tool - Maintenance Monday: How To Bleed Avid & Formula Hydraulic Disc Brakes

If you need to bleed your Avid or Formula disc brakes, this video will take you through the steps.

Please note: when positioning the brake lever, you should do it so the bleed port is at the top - this allows air to come out of the fluid. But due to the shape of Avid brakes, it may be difficult to achieve this but. Therefore, we have demonstrated the procedure in the horizontal position. You should adapt the position depending on your lever, but not worry too much as the desired results are usually achievable in most positions.

How come there is a shimano brake lever on the left hand side?
