Sustrans is the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, working on practical projects so that people can choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and environment.  It's easy to focus on the problems created by increased car use, but Sustrans believes that by working together, we can make life better.

Changing the way we travel now by increasing the amount people walk and cycle will improve our lives in the future. Clearer roads, cleaner air, a healthier environment, improved personal wellbeing and better quality of life – they're all achievable.

Sustrans runs a number of key projects which have real local impact - imaginative yet practical solutions to transport, environmental, and health challenges. The best known of all Sustrans work is the National Cycle Network, and there is a range of maps available with all the information needed to make use of this network, which now extends to over 10,000 miles and passes within 1 mile of half of the population.
