The year was 1986. Working late nights in his garage, designer and bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet – the Prolight. Then he gave it to some of his friends, one of whom just happened to win the Tour de France.

Today, Jim's philosophy is still alive and well at Giro, who continue to push the limits of helmet design, and test the results on the world's greatest athletes. This process has produced innovation after innovation: Roc Loc fit systems, Wind Tunnel ventilation, Point of View visors, Roll Cage technology, to name just a few. Of course, innovations mean nothing if they don't improve the performance of the product. Does it fit? Does it keep you cool? Does it make you feel good? How can it be made better?
